Auto Pay Guide

What Is Optimum Auto Pay?

Optimum Auto Pay is an automatic billing feature that charges your chosen payment method each month on or before your bill due date — so your Optimum bill is paid without you having to log in manually every month.

Once enrolled, Auto Pay continues until you cancel it. Your monthly bill statement is still sent — Auto Pay simply processes the payment for you automatically.

Independent Guide: OptimummTV is not the official Optimum Auto Pay portal. Set up, manage, or cancel Auto Pay through the official Optimum website at optimum.net or the Optimum app.
Never Miss a Payment

Auto Pay charges your account automatically each billing cycle, eliminating the risk of forgetting to pay and avoiding potential late fees or service interruptions due to missed payments.

Possible Monthly Discount

Optimum may offer a monthly bill discount for customers enrolled in Auto Pay. The discount amount and eligibility vary by plan and region. Check the Auto Pay enrollment screen or confirm with Optimum customer service whether a discount applies to your account.

Multiple Payment Methods Accepted

Optimum Auto Pay supports debit cards, credit cards, and bank account (ACH) payments. You can choose which payment method to use and update it at any time through your account settings.

Billing Statements Continue

Auto Pay does not stop your monthly bill statement. You will still receive a detailed statement each month. Always review it before the Auto Pay date to spot any unexpected charges before the payment processes.

Step-by-Step Setup

How to Set Up Optimum Auto Pay

Auto Pay can be set up through the official Optimum website or the Optimum mobile app. Follow these steps once you are logged in to your Optimum account.

1

Log In to Your Optimum Account

Go to the official Optimum website at optimum.net or open the official Optimum app (available on iOS and Android). Log in using your Optimum username and password. If you cannot log in, see our account access guide before continuing.

2

Navigate to the Billing Section

From your account dashboard, click or tap Billing or Pay Bill. This will show your current account balance, upcoming due date, and available payment options.

3

Find the Auto Pay or Automatic Payment Option

Within the Billing section, look for an option labelled Auto Pay, AutoPay, or Automatic Payment. Click or tap to begin enrollment. If you do not see this option, check under Payment Settings or Account Settings.

4

Select or Add Your Payment Method

Choose a saved payment method or tap Add Payment Method to add a new debit card, credit card, or bank account. Enter your payment details only on the official secure Optimum payment screen. Optimum accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and bank account ACH payments for Auto Pay.

5

Review and Confirm Enrollment

A summary screen will show you the payment method being enrolled and the terms of Auto Pay. Review carefully and confirm. You will receive a confirmation email to your registered address. Auto Pay typically activates from your next billing cycle — it will not retroactively pay any current balance due.

Auto Pay Starts From Your Next Billing Cycle Enrolling in Auto Pay does not automatically pay your current outstanding balance. If you have an amount due now, pay it manually before or alongside enrollment. Use our payment options guide to choose the best method for your current bill.

Manage Auto Pay

How to Update Your Auto Pay Payment Method

If your payment card expires, is replaced, or you want to switch to a different card or bank account, you must update your Auto Pay method before your next billing date — otherwise the payment will fail.

Update before your due date. If Auto Pay processes with an expired or invalid card, a payment failure may trigger a late fee or service interruption.
1
Log in at optimum.net or open the Optimum app

Use your Optimum username and password to access your account on the official website or app.

2
Go to Billing → Payment Methods or Auto Pay Settings

Navigate to the Billing section and look for Payment Methods, Saved Cards, or Auto Pay Settings depending on your account view.

3
Edit, remove, or replace the payment method

Select the current Auto Pay card and choose to edit, remove, or replace it. Add new card or bank account details on the official secure payment page.

4
Save and confirm the updated method

Confirm the change and check your email for a confirmation. Your updated payment method will be used for the next Auto Pay cycle.

Cancel Auto Pay

How to Cancel Optimum Auto Pay

You can cancel Auto Pay at any time through your Optimum account. After cancellation, your bill will no longer be paid automatically — you must pay it manually each month before the due date.

Cancel before your billing cycle. If you cancel after Auto Pay has already processed for the current month, the cancellation will take effect the following cycle.
1
Log in at optimum.net or open the Optimum app

Access your Optimum account with your login credentials.

2
Go to Billing → Auto Pay or Automatic Payment Settings

Navigate to the Auto Pay section in your Billing settings. Your current Auto Pay enrollment and payment method will be shown.

3
Select Cancel Auto Pay or Turn Off Automatic Payment

Click or tap the option to cancel or disable Auto Pay. You may be asked to confirm the cancellation — confirm to proceed.

4
Check your email for cancellation confirmation

You should receive an email confirming that Auto Pay has been cancelled. Keep this email. From the next billing cycle, you will need to pay your Optimum bill manually before the due date.

After Cancellation — Pay Manually Once Auto Pay is cancelled, you must pay your bill manually every month. See our payment options guide to find the best manual payment method — online, app, phone, or in person.

Payment Failure

What to Do When Optimum Auto Pay Fails

Auto Pay can fail for several reasons — an expired card, insufficient funds, or an updated card number not reflected in your Optimum account. Here is what to do immediately when it happens.

Expired or Replaced Card

If your card has expired or been replaced with a new number, Auto Pay will fail on the old card. Log in immediately and update your payment method in Auto Pay settings. Then pay your current bill manually to avoid a late fee while the update takes effect. See our urgent payment guide if your bill is overdue.

Insufficient Funds

If your bank account or card did not have enough funds on the Auto Pay date, the payment will fail. Log in and pay your bill manually as soon as possible using an available payment method. Then ensure your account has sufficient funds before the next Auto Pay date.

Bank Blocked the Transaction

Some banks block automatic recurring transactions as a security precaution. If your card is valid and funded but Auto Pay still failed, contact your bank to check whether they blocked the charge. Ask them to allow future Optimum automatic payments, then retry the payment manually.

Late Fee Applied After Failure

If a late fee was applied after an Auto Pay failure, contact Optimum customer service after paying the bill. Explain that the failure was due to an expired card or bank issue. Optimum may waive a first-time late fee — have your payment confirmation number and the failure notification ready when calling. OptimummTV can help you prepare — call 1(888) 279-7709.

Best Prevention: Review Your Billing Statement Every Month Even on Auto Pay, review your Optimum bill statement each month before the payment date. If a new charge appears that you did not expect, contact Optimum before Auto Pay processes — it is much easier to resolve a charge before payment than after.

Important Notes

Key Things to Know About Optimum Auto Pay

Before you enroll or rely on Auto Pay, make sure you understand how it works and what your responsibilities are as an account holder.

Auto Pay Starts From Your Next Billing Cycle

Enrolling in Auto Pay does not pay any current outstanding balance. If you have an amount due today, pay it manually. Auto Pay will handle future billing cycles only.

You Still Receive Monthly Statements

Enrolling in Auto Pay does not stop paper or email billing statements. You will still receive a monthly statement — review it every month to check for unexpected charges before Auto Pay processes.

Update Your Card Before It Expires

Set a reminder each year to check the expiry date of your Auto Pay card. Update it in your Optimum account settings at least one billing cycle before it expires to prevent a payment failure.

Cancelling Auto Pay Does Not Cancel Your Service

Cancelling Auto Pay only stops the automatic payment — it does not cancel your Optimum subscription or service. You remain responsible for paying your bill manually each month after cancellation.

Check Discount Eligibility When Enrolling

If a discount is available for Auto Pay on your plan, it is usually shown during enrollment or in your billing settings. If you are unsure, ask Optimum customer service to confirm whether a discount has been applied to your account.

Only Set Up Auto Pay Through Official Optimum Channels

Set up and manage Auto Pay only through the official Optimum website at optimum.net or the official Optimum app. Do not provide payment details to a third-party website claiming to set up Auto Pay on your behalf.
